Roles and Permissions

Understand client, event manager, booth operator, and super admin roles in PassTru.

All users5 min read

Access boundaries for clients, event managers, booth operators, and super admins.

Role overview

  • `client` has organization-wide control over events, staff, tokens, reports, and settings.
  • `event_manager` is scoped to check-in operations for assigned events.
  • `booth_operator` is scoped to booth-side operations for the assigned event context.
  • `super_admin` is reserved for PassTru platform administration.

Client

The client role is the main organizer role. It manages events, attendees, branding, booths, operators, token purchases, reports, and organization settings.

  • Create, edit, duplicate, suspend, and delete events.
  • Manage event managers and booth operators.
  • Purchase tokens and review organization-level reports.

Event manager

The event manager role is for check-in staff. It is intentionally narrower than client access and is focused on live event entry operations.

On sign-in, event managers are sent directly to the check-in workspace for the assigned event.

  • Scan attendee QR codes.
  • Search attendees and check them in manually.
  • Undo check-ins when needed.

Booth operator

The booth operator role is for sponsor-side or exhibitor-side staff who need a narrow booth workspace without wider event access.

  • View assigned booth activity and live visitor flow.
  • Work inside the operator dashboard only.
  • Cannot access billing, attendee management, or broader event configuration.

Assign roles

Keep client access limited to trusted organization admins. Assign narrower roles to operational staff.

Recommended checklist

  • Reserve `client` for trusted organization admins.
  • Use `event_manager` for registration and check-in desks.
  • Use `booth_operator` for exhibitor or booth-side staff.
  • Review temporary staff access before each major event.
